The following video comes with an apology to Led Zepplin ....... and those of you who are proficient in the art of editing videos. We make no such claims and as such, you may well ask, why don't you just leave it alone? But we can't resist the challenge and besides, the guff that came with the GoPro said it was easy-peasy. I'm sure that our skills will improve ... they certainly can't get any worse!
After having listened to the Plant's vocals, we thought that we might alter them just a little to better reflect our experience and the experience of all the women (principally) who turn a windlass to reach Hatton Top Lock.
There's a lady who's sure That she’ll get through them all And she's climbing the Stairway to Heaven When she gets there she knows 23 locks have been closed and With a sigh, she can put down her windlass
Oh oh oh oh And she's climbing the Stairway to Heaven
There's a feeling she gets
When she looks up the flight And her spirit is crying for ending
In her thoughts, she has seen Hatton Top Lock achieved And heard cheers of those who stand looking
Ooh, it makes me wonder Ooh, it really makes me wonder
There's a lady we all know Who holds her head high And is proud she can still turn a windlass Four long hours at her back
The top has come to her at last And now all of the locks are behind her Gin and tonic in hand and a smile on her face She's climbed the Stairway to Heaven
The Captain, The Commodore and The Cat
Wow. That is an amazing feat, even without the video. Does the return journey require that you descend the same stairway or is their an equally challenging route ahead?
We wish we were with you, but that doesn’t look likely for a while.
We hope to catch you two for a chat soon. 😻
